Statement on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Last updated on April 7, 2020
Following the IBO’s announcement on March 23 to cancel the May 2020 examinations, we had to take the regrettable decision to not continue with our Easter Courses as planned. Understandably those who have registered with us will have important questions and we are in the process of determining the best way forward. We will communicate our next steps as soon as we have more information for you. We thank parents and students for their patience.
For those who booked accommodation through us, please note that we are handling the cancellations directly with the hotel.
Since the initial announcement relating to the exams, the IBO released additional information regarding the new measures for assessment. We expect details to be clarified in the coming days, but we currently understand that students will be assessed in the following ways:
Marks from coursework, such as internal assessments. Since the assessment criteria is unchanged, students will still have to hand in the usual required work.
Predicted grades.
Individual and comparative school data, along with subject data.
Previous examinations.
Schools may proceed differently and we are closely monitoring their approaches. The IBO’s aim is to provide final grades by July 5, so they require schools to provide all coursework by April 20.
We will continue to look into providing support for students and we are in discussion with our tutors on ways we can help students with any further academic needs. With the online format, there are a number of creative ways we can proceed. As soon as we have a better idea of the assessment requirements and the needs of students, we will be sure to update you with our plans.
IB.Academy operates in the Netherlands and we are closely following the developments with coronavirus (COVID-19) and the advice given by the government. If you would like more information on the current measures, please refer to this link.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please stay safe and watch this page for additional updates.
